The 2018 Honda Fit Is Here.
Honda has revealed the 2018 Fit, sporting a new face and added safety equipment. Besides the new look, the 2018 Honda Fit now packs Honda Sensing safety technology along with a new Sport trim.
Now available on LX, Sport and standard on EX trims and above, Honda Sensing is a suite of safety features that will help the driver avoid collisions. It includes lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and road departure warning. Honda says that the Fit is the most affordable car in America to offer such a comprehensive suite of safety equipment.
Specs
Although the current Honda Fit hatchback arrived in the U.S. for the 2015 model year, we only expect a mild styling refresh for the 2018 model year with minor trim-level updates. The current model's 1.5-liter DOHC I-4, with 130 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque, is mated to a six-speed manual or available CVT.
The 2018 Honda Fit is expected to continue using a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 130 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque. With this output, it's no surprise our long-term Honda Fit hit 60 mph in 8.9 seconds. Pricing for the 2018 model has yet to be announced, but we don't expect it to be much more expensive than the current Fit, which starts at $16,965.
Looks
Trim levels for the 2017 model include base LX, EX, and EX-L. Available features on higher-trim models include heated leather seats and navigation. Standard active safety tech includes Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), daytime running lights, and rearview camera.
To spruce up the third-generation Fit that first went on sale in 2014, Honda changed up the grille and headlights. The front bumper features a full-width splitter, and the fog-light pods take on a new shape. In the rear, look for a redesigned bumper. Two new color options are available including Orange Fury and Helios Yellow Pearl, which replaces Mystic Yellow.
The Fit isn't the only subcompact hatch to offer advanced safety technologies, although Honda says the Fit is the most affordable car in the U.S. with such a strong offering of these features. The Toyota Yaris has standard Toyota Safety Sense C, which includes a pre-collision system, lane departure alert, and automatic high beams.
This is the first major update for the third-generation Fit since the car launched in 2014. More information, including pricing, on the 2018. Fit will be revealed in the near future according to Honda.
